Dr. Bogad had mentioned that the red pen is like someone is screaming at you just like an all caps text message. I did not realize the red pen is a way to talk down to the students. Like Dr. Bogad had said, there is nothing worse when someone writes all over your paper in red pen. I took this as a helpful tip because I remember when I was in school and when teachers would leak my test or papers with red pen. It honestly did hurt my feelings. Now, I would not want to do this to my own students. Now, in the future, I will keep that in mind for the future.  I was able to connect this post to Shor because this is way that most teachers would grade assignments. Shor would argue that is not beneficial because it is a way of screaming at them. Connecting this also to Delpit, she would argue that the red pen is a way of being too direct with the students by basically yelling at them through a red pen. Both authors would argue by saying a red pen should not be used in a classroom. It defeats the purpose of the students wanting to learn or improve on their essay or assignments that the teacher has demolished through a red pen.
